Want Big Arms - Then Don’t Train Too Much
Filed Under Arms |
Your new to the gym and keen, you saw the latest action movie and want arms like the movie hero. You start training with weights everyday, you train your arms for an hour every day - you want to get them as big as possible. The only big thing that you are making here is the big mistake of training too much.
To grow your arm muscles as fast as possible you need to train them and then let them rest and heal. They only grow when you let them rest and recuperate. If you train them too much then they will never get the chance to grow as training damages and tears the muscle cells - recovery is when they rebuild bigger than before.
This is a problem many young guys have, myself included when I was younger. I would train biceps twice or three times a week, with very heavy weights and 15 to 20 sets each time. No wonder my arms grew to a certain point and then stopped - I was training too much…
As a beginning trainer 1 time a week of HARD training should be enough for your arms, both biceps and triceps. You will get a secondary bicep workout from back workouts. Triceps also get a workout from chest and shoulders training. This will ensure that you do not train the arm muscles too much.
Better yet would be to incorporate these days into the same routine. ie Train your biceps and back together one day, then on another train your chest, shoulders and triceps.
By ensuring you have plenty of time for muscle recovery you also make sure you can put in 100% effort on each arm training day, really blast them then let them recover. This is the best way to get your arms to grow.
There are some times when training more often is acceptable but you will only use these in specialised circumstances which we will discuss later.
In the meantime do not train too much on your arms or any other bodypart.
